#029 | 5 Powerful Techniques to Skyrocket Your Personal Reputation
May 20, 2023
Your actions + what others say about you = your reputation.
This formula is the most powerful leverage you have in business -- and in life, for that matter. While people say you shouldn't be concerned about what others think, it's a little bit tricky. Keep in mind that perception is reality, so you want to take control of the way your audience, your colleagues, your customers see you. All it takes is a small sway from a trusted contact to either get you in or push you out.
That’s why in order to STANDOUT From The Crowd, you have to think more about building your reputation. Not only do we have to be concerned about how we present ourselves, but we also have to be aware of how we come across online.
I’m here to remind you to create a great impression in real life and then leverage that work to create a strong reputation currency online. In today’s newsletter, I am going to share with you 5 proven ways to build your reputation. Let’s dive into it!
1. Do what you say you’ll do.
In an other word, focus on the value you deliver.
Make sure you are fulfilling the promise you made to your customer, colleagues, online network, whoever it is. Honoring your promise will keep your reputation (AKA your brand) strong, and word-of-mouth is the best credibility you can get. OK. You don’t want to come across as this person that just blows smoke.

Bottom line, you don’t want to come across as this person that just blows smoke.
2. Establish social proof
Maintaining and building a social media presence is necessary to build a strong reputation. Your audience may be focused on one or multiple platforms, so create an online marketing strategy and plan your social media posts to be consistent. (and guess what?! That’s something I can help you achieve in my upcoming Linkedin Masterclass).
3. Leverage social proof
Collect reviews then, leverage your reviews by republishing them in your social media platforms, email signature, marketing materials, etc. I also suggest that you compile proof (e.g., customer testimonials, case studies) that support your story, your work and use them all over. What your colleagues, managers, customers say about you is everything.
4. Be consistent
I have talked about it in one of my latest Linkedin posts. Don’t fake it until you make it. Being inauthentic will do you no good, because you won’t be able to remain consistent. Your reputation will be built through the consistent delivery of your promise. You don’t have to show up online everyday. If it’s 3 days per week, fine… but stick to it.
5. Get engaged with your community
Your community can be as small as your office or as large as your city. Your engagement will have everything to do with your values and goals. Being engaged means getting to know people, giving back your time and resources, and being available. Or simply put it this way: networking, building relationships.
